La Savina. The Port
The port of Formentera is located in La Savina and this is the first place that we see when we arrive in Formentera.
La Savina was converted into a port when the harbour was artificially formed by joining one point of the island with a small island which was called precisely La Savina.
Actually, there is a continual movement of boats in the port and normally there are modern ferry boats from Ibiza along with other more traditional boats dedicated to making excursions along the coast.
In addition, the older boats, such as the Joven Dolores or the Illa de Formentera, have more charm and are ideal for making slower but more memorable trips. In La Savina there are all the necessary facilities for private yachts: a marina with nautical services and a petrol station, shops and restaurants - everything that a navigator needs. In the port there is a bus service that connects La Savina with the other towns of the island and there are also taxis and rent-a-car offices.
