La Mola
La Mola is the most "far away" area of the island but , even so, it is a "must" for any tour of the island. This is the highest point of the island, 192 meters above sea level.
Its majestic lighthouse is a reference point for navigators, for those in search of adventure, and for writers, such as Jules Verne, who mention it in their books.
In La Mola is located the town of Nuestra Señora del Pilar whose white church, along with the lighthouse mentioned before, has become a symbol of the area.

The view of Formentera from Es Mirador (lookout point), La Mola
The best way to appreciate all the characteristics of this area is to travel along (on foot, if possible) any of the unpaved country roads which lead from the town center to the rural areas. Along some of them, which lead towards the south, it is possible to reach the sea. A very interesting country road is that of Sa Talaiassa which leads to the highest point of the island. But perhaps the most interesting road does not begin in the center of La Mola - it begins at its base. This is the "Camí romà" or Roman road which goes from Es Caló to the lookout point of Es Mirador where one can see almost the entire island with Ibiza in the background. Some stretches of the Roman road still conserve some of the original cobblestones from Roman times as the road passes through woods in a continual ascent. This is one of the most highly recommended visits for any traveller with some of the most spectacular views that Formentera has to offer.
