Espalmador Island

Espalmador is a small island situated to the north
of Formentera. It is approximately 2,995 meters long and 800 meters wide. Its coastline is
formed by cliffs except for a magnificent bay on the south and another smaller bay on the
northwest which is an ideal refuge for boats because it is protected by a small islet
called "Illa de Sa Torreta." The island also has a small muddy lagoon where some
of the tourists, who arrive by boat, go to have a mud bath.
Espalmador is surrounded by other small islets: Illa
Castavi and Illa des Porcs. The beaches of Espalmador have
crystal clear water and white sand. When the sea is calm it is possible to walk across
from Formentera to Espalmador as seen in the photograph ("Es Trocadors" pass).
At any rate, for a safer excursion, it is better to visit the island on a boat ride.
